Last Friday I conducted a seminar at the Annual Managers Meet of a client held at Green Coconut Resort in ECR, Chennai. The theme was “Scaling the management maturity ladder”. I used the People CMM model to illustrate the management maturity ladder and emphasized the need to create level 5 leaders who have the professional will to get things done plus the personal humility to create future leaders for the organization.
To create such leaders, the first step is to empower them with the right tools and skills to manage projects professionally and also manage stakeholders with confidence. I elaborated on a list of tools and skill set with examples. I concluded the session with a note on the systemic changes that need to be put in place to take an organization from good to great.
The management team thanked me for the session and felt that it was inspiring, unique and practical.

Great Ganapathy! I think this is a very unique topic and it requires indepth PM experience to deliver a lecture on this topic. I didn’t know PCMM provides guidance for management maturity. Looking forward to attend such unique workshops in future.

Thanks Lakshmi. People CMM is a great tool to bring organizational change and very useful in IT where people management makes all the difference. Personally I like People CMM more than even CMMi. I attended a training by Rajesh Naik from QAI who is a expert on the model and that is one reason I developed a passion for PCMM.
